Are there merchant category restrictions for Halocard?

Accepted Answer

Halocard generally works wherever Visa, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted, however, some physical and online stores (merchants) represent a higher risk to our card issuing and banking partners. These types of transactions typically have a higher probability of fraud and chargebacks and are regulated or illegal in some jurisdictions.

If a merchant falls into one of the following categories, your payment may be declined even if the merchant appears legitimate or claims they accept credit cards:

Are there any fees when using Halocards?

Accepted Answer

There are no transaction fees to worry about when using Halocard for USD purchases either online, or in-person, via Apple/Google Pay.

Non-USD purchases may attract an international transaction fee to cover currency conversion and overseas payment processing.

Why was my transaction declined?

A declined transaction does not always mean there is a problem with your Halocard.

Most declines are caused by incorrect details or payment rules outside of Halocard's control.

If one of your transactions is declined, please follow these steps:

If the transaction appears on your Halocard dashboard with the status "Declined"

When a purchase is declined, it appears in your card's transactions list in red and includes a decline reason that explains the problem. Below are several common decline reasons and suggested ways to resolve them.

The initial deposit to open a Halocard account is a minimum of $70, and subsequent deposits a minimum of $30.

How do I add my card to Apple Pay or Google Pay?

Accepted Answer

All Halocard virtual cards are compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay and can be added to your mobile wallet when they're in an active and unlocked state.

Apple Pay

Make sure you Apple account is registered in one of Apple Pay's supported countries, then:

Open the Wallet app.
Tap + (top right).
Select Debit or Credit Card.
Tap Enter Card Details Manually.
Enter your Halocard details including Card number. Expiry date and CVV.
Review and accept the terms.
Enter the verification code sent via SMS or email.

I get the error "Contact Card Issuer" or "Could Not Add Card" when trying to add a Halocard to my iPhone

This means Apple has placed a temporary restriction on adding cards to your Apple Wallet. Apple's security policy allows adding up to 10 cards every 90 days or 5 cards every 24 hours. Please wait for either timeframe to expire before attempting again.

Google Pay

Before you begin, make sure you have an Android phone with NFC, Google Pay app installed, screen lock enabled and your Halocard card details handy.

Open the Google Pay app.
Tap Add a card.
Select Debit or credit card.
Tap Enter details manually.
Enter your Halocard detais including Card number, Expiry date and CVV.
Review and accept the terms.
Enter the verification code sent via SMS or email.
