Can I use Halocard for Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (ChatGPT)?

Yes. Halocard is supported as a payment method across Anthropic and OpenAI products, including Claude Pro, Claude Max, Claude Team, the Anthropic API, ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT Pro, ChatGPT Team, and the OpenAI API.


Both platforms process payments through Stripe and accept Visa, so a US-issued Halocard is accepted and particularly useful if your locally-issued cards have been declined by these services.


From September 2025, Anthropic has begun verifying the region of your account, not just the card used at checkout. If your account isn't listed as one of Anthropic's support regions (i.e. Hong Kong is currently unsupported), their checkout can block the payment before it reaches your Halocard. In this case, nothing will appear in your Halocard dashboard, not even a decline, and this indicates Anthropic may be applying a restriction preventing all card payments on your account.Your Halocard is not the issue in this scenario. A merchant-side block happens before the payment reaches Visa, so your card remains active, funded, and fully functional throughout. You can confirm this yourself in seconds by making a small purchase at any other Visa merchant.If you're in this situation, please contact Anthropic support and ask them to review any restrictions on your account. Halocard is unable to troubleshoot charges that are restricted by merchants and do not appear on your account.


Setting up for a smooth payment


  • Make sure your account is in a supported region, and being used in line with their Terms of Use. No credit card can override account-level restrictions.
  • Match the billing address you enter at checkout to the one set on your Halocard exactly, character for character.
  • Set per-transaction and monthly limits high enough to cover the plan amount, or any auto top-ups you might trigger on the API.


What's outside our control


  • Account-level region restrictions. If your Anthropic or OpenAI account is registered in a region they don't support, no payment method will get around that.
  • Platform-side fraud rules that decline payments based on account behaviour, IP signals, or browser session data (also outside of Halocard's control).
  • 3D Secure challenges that don't complete due to popup blockers or browser extensions.
