How do refunds work on Halocard?
When a merchant issues a refund, it will be sent back to the same Halocard that was used for the original purchase.
Please ensure your Halocard is active in order to receive your refund.
I was refunded but it shows as a charge/deduction on my dashboard?
Refunds may initially appear as charges that are equal or less than your original purchase amount with the status 'Authorized'. This is normal behaviour and you will need to wait 1 - 3 business days for the transactions to settle via Visa in order for the refund to show as a credit on your account.
What if my Halocard is locked or cancelled when a refund is received?
If your Halocard is locked or cancelled, refunds will be unable to be credited back to your card. Please either unlock your Halocard or, if your Halocard has been cancelled, you will have to ask the merchant to send your refund to a different Halocard, or a different payment method.
What if I can’t see the refund?
If you don’t see a refund, first confirm that the merchant has processed it. Refunds can take time to settle, so allow a few business days for it to appear and check your transaction history. If the refund still hasn’t appeared after a reasonable period, contact the merchant to get confirmation on when the refund was processed and when it should arrive. There is no action required on you or Halocard to receive a refund.
Refunds vs disputes
Refunds are different from disputes or chargebacks. If a merchant does not issue a refund, or you believe a charge is incorrect or fraudulent, you may be eligible to raise a dispute instead. Please see: How can I dispute a transaction and request a chargeback?
