Can I choose any name or address at checkout?
It depends on how strictly the merchant verifies billing details at checkout.
AVS (Address Verification Service) is a standard check used by many merchants to compare the billing details you enter with the address on file for your card to prevent fraudulent transactions.
If a merchant does not enforce AVS, you may be able to enter flexible billing details that don’t exactly match the billing address on your Halocard.
If a merchant does enforce AVS, the billing ZIP/postcode, and in some cases the street address, must match the billing address on your Halocard or the payment may be declined.
If you’re unsure which checks a merchant uses, the safest option is to enter the exact billing address shown for your Halocard. You usually won’t know which checks a merchant uses until you attempt the payment.
