How do I set spending limits for individual cards?
Halocard lets you enforce custom spending limits to control exactly how much can be spent on each of your Halocards.
The different types of limits available include:
Limit Type | Description |
|---|---|
Per transaction | A single purchase cannot exceed the spend limit. Any purchase above this amount will be declined. |
Time-based per day, per week, per month or per year | Multiple purchases during the time period cannot exceed the spend limit. Any purchases above this amount will be declined. |
One-time use disposable card (coming soon) | A single purchase can be made on the card. The card will then be automatically cancelled. |
How time-based spending limits work
These limits doesn't reset on a fixed calendar date. Instead, they start the moment you make a purchase, and that purchase counts against your limit until the time window passes.
For example, with a $100 daily limit:
- On Monday, you spend $60 and have $40 left to spend.
- 24 hours later on Tuesday, that $60 stops counting and your full $100 is available again.
If you have no recent purchases, your next purchase begins a fresh limit period. If you've already spent within the window, any additional purchases are added to the existing total and only stop counting once their own time window has passed.
How to set a spending limit
- In your Cards tab, select the card you want to control and click Edit.

- Your limit will take immediate effect on your card.
