# Does Halocard affect my credit score?

Halocard **doesn't share any data with credit bureaus and no credit checks are performed** when you create an account.

Halocards are **secured credit cards** that allow you to spend only the funds you've deposited. Halocards function like a traditional debit card linked to a checking account, with the added benefit of higher levels of acceptance that come with credit cards.

Halocards are different from **unsecured credit cards** provided by traditional banks like Chase or Bank of America. These products require a credit check and include a line of credit that is due at the end of every month. Since Halocard doesn't extend any credit, there are no credit check or credit pulls when you create an account.
